Fugues and variations
A beautiful portfolio for collectors

Chez Higgins Publishing enriches their portfolio catalog late 2008 with new titles, among which this "Fugues and variations" in the Erotica collection : a beautiful hand-made box of fifteen original photographic prints, published in a limited edition of thirty copies only, designed as a precious object for collectors and book lovers.

This portfolio is another example of the photographer’s work and celebration of the female body, here often seen from the back, with an emphasis placed on movement and fluidity. An approach which also seems like an attempt to go beyond mere appearances somehow. In the pictures, suggested movements of bodies, blurred contours where light and shadow mix, neutral surroundings with little to catch the eye, help open to new worlds and bring on other stories. Subjects sort of float in between what came before and what might happen next. Like an invitation to journey.

An invitation which writer Maurice Duron was first to accept. He let the pictures carry him away, setting off on his own trip into an amazing imaginary world : visions of rough seas and overheated deserts, initiatory dances and glorious nudity, gentle wanderings and invitations to love… His short texts are gathered in a "private chronicle" which comes with the pictures inside the portfolio.

Again with this portfolio, Chez Higgins intends to rediscover the spirit of the former "cabinet of natural curiosities" : with an open eye on innovative artwork, a taste for the unknown and interest in the unusual and strange, also an original concept to allow collectors to go for genuine, signed and limited-edition photographic art prints, yet at an affordable price.
